Mexican Paletas, A Cure For This Heat
I don't know if anyone read their [LA Times food section] today, but there was an article on Mexican paletas, which are the best icecreams ever--they either are made with water (like a popsicle) or with milk and they are full of fresh fruit. One of the featured ice cream stores is right downtown--Paleteria La Michoacana at 306 W. 7th between Broadway and Hill.So I ran over right away and bought a bunch. And I'm here to tell you they are incredible. And in really interesting Mexican flavors like mamey, guanabana, tuna (cactus fruit) as well as more conventional flavors. Do yourselves a favor in this heat and go try one--let me know what you think.
